A Kenyan couple is being held in India along with the body of their daughter due to unpaid medical bills. The
couple had accompanied their daughter Patricia Mwangi who was suffering
from non-Hodgkin Lymphoma to a New Delhi hospital to seek treatment.
Patricia, 29, however passed away on December 28, 2012 while undergoing treatment at the hospital. She had earlier being misdiagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma after she went to a
doctor in Kenya. She underwent six stages of chemotherapy before a
second opinion by a different doctor discovered the misdiagnosis.
The
parents are held in India together with the body and the family
needs Sh3.7 million to pay off bills and secure their release. Patricia’s
sister, Vicky, speaking on behalf of the family is appealing to well
wishers to assist them in raising the funds and is also appealing to the
Kenya High Commission in India as well as the government to come to
their aid. This will enable the release of the parents as well as the repatriation of Patricia's body to Kenya for burial.
Sh.1 million had already been raised by Tuesday evening and contributions are still streaming in. Please help by sending your contribution to MPesa PayBill number 600100, Account NO. 0100002617271.
